Alta Vista Dental Care wants every patient and visitor, including people who use assistive technology, to be able to read this website, find our office, and request an appointment. This site is built and tested to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. Accessibility is an ongoing effort, and we review the site as it changes.
What we have done
- Semantic HTML with named landmarks, one main heading per page, and a logical heading order
- A skip link, visible keyboard focus on every control, and a site menu that can be opened, navigated, and closed from the keyboard
- Text and interface colors chosen and measured for contrast against the backgrounds they sit on
- Text alternatives for meaningful images and empty alternatives for decorative ones
- Touch targets of at least 44 by 44 pixels for primary controls, and a persistent Call, Directions, and Book bar on phones and tablets
- A slideshow on the home page that can be paused, and reduced motion honored from your device settings
- An Accessibility Settings panel (the round button with the person icon, at the bottom of every page) that lets you enlarge text up to 150%, turn on high contrast, underline links, switch to the Atkinson Hyperlegible font, add text spacing, and stop motion. Your choices are saved only in your own browser. It is built into the site itself, not a third-party overlay, and it works alongside your browser zoom, screen reader, and device settings rather than replacing them
- Automated testing with axe-core in a real browser on every page at phone, tablet, and desktop widths, including with the Accessibility Settings turned on, plus manual keyboard checks of the home page, a service page, the appointment page, the mobile menu, and the settings panel
Known limitations
The appointment request form is provided by a secure third-party form service and loads inside this site. We chose it for its security, but its internal accessibility is controlled by that provider. If any part of the form is difficult to use, call us and we will take your request by phone. Our Notice of Privacy Practices is a PDF; if you would like the information in another format, ask and we will provide it.
